Who We Are

The purpose is to provide transitional housing to homeless and/or
chemically dependent veterans, some of which have a coinciding mental illness.

  • This organization is a 501(c)(3) Public Charity.
  • This organization is required to file an IRS Form 990 or 990-EZ.
  • Contributions are deductible, as provided by law.

How to Help

Stepping Stones for Veterans is suffering under the weight of normal expenses such as food, electricity, gas, transportation, and building upkeep.  The price of fuel has hurt our ability to take veterans to appointments, medical care, and employment.  Our mode of transportation is an older Van that currently has 300,000 miles on it. Won't you please consider donating to our organization.  The greatest insult that I can imagine is to turn away veterans because we don't have adequate funds to assist them or having to close the doors completely.

Additional Comments from the Organization

We supply the clients with a Case Manager(s) and L.M.H.C. You can not warehouse people and hope they become self-sufficient. You must have a program and staff it. With the cut-back in money for programs to teach life skills to the homeless population we must rely more and more on outside grants and donations. Please consider helping.

Recent Graduates of “Phase i Stepping Stones Recovery”

You may be thinking that recovery is just for people with alcohol or drug problems. The truth is that only two thirds of the people at Stepping Stones for Veterans are dealing with chemical dependencies. Many of them have created ungodly and unhealthy methods for handling life. Regardless of your struggle, whether it’s emotional, relational, financial, spiritual, and sexual or whatever, Recovery will teach you to make the healing choices that will help you become the person God created you to be. If you have hurts, habits or hang ups that haunt your heart, that cause you pain or that have messed up your life, Then Stepping Stones for Veterans is the place for you.

How does Recovery work?

  • At Stepping Stones for Veterans we put our trust in our Higher Power, who is God. We use and teach Biblical principles during the Recovery process.
  • We learn to trust and to be trusted, love and be loved-- for who we really are, regardless of what we've done. We get real and start genuine friendships with people who have been there and done that... and understand where we're coming from. The Road to Recovery is not meant to be traveled alone.

What is a hurt, habit, or hang-up?

A HURT: is an emotional reaction to another person’s behavior or to a disturbing situation. (Abuse, abandonment, codependency, divorce, relationship issues, etc.)

A HABIT: is an addiction to something or someone. (Alcohol, drugs, food, pornography, gambling, smoking, etc.)

A HANG UP: is a negative mental attitude that is used to cope with people or adversity. (Anger, depression, fear, shame, unforgiveness, etc.)

What is Recovery?

In physical health, recovery refers to the process of moving from illness to wellness. Our hurts, habits and hang-ups are like an illness and using the tools from our Recovery Program we begin to move toward wholeness. Some might say from bondage to freedom. Others might say from self-reliance to faith in God.

Is Stepping Stones for Veterans Recovery confidential?

Yes, Stepping Stones for Veterans Recovery maintains strict confidentiality. This promotes an atmosphere of trust and enables recovery.  WHO you see here. WHAT you hear here. WHEN you leave here. STAYS HERE. Hear! Hear!

Stepping Stones for Veterans is:

A safe place to share and learn from others

A refuge for those who feel trapped in their world of addictions.

       A place of belonging

A place to care for others and be cared for

A place where respect is given to each person

A place where confidentiality is highly regarded

       A place to learn

A place to grow and become strong again

A place where you can take off your mask

A place for healthy challenges and healthy risks

A possible turning point in your life

Have you ever had to deal with any of these issues?  Has your behavior affected your life, your family, and those who surround you? If so, then Recovery is for you!

We can’t imagine the full impact on our community if we ever had to close the doors.  If you aren’t in need of Stepping Stones for Veterans Services then please, consider supporting Stepping Stones for Veterans financially.
